Real Racing 3 releases worldwide Feb 28 for free on iOS, Android, and Amazon Appstore

Just posting a new thread on this as I'm sure many people will be asking about it. We've announced the game will be released worldwide on Feb 28 on mobile and tablet devices for free.

Here's my comment on the game being free:
Today we announced Real Racing 3 will be free. And yes, Real Racing 3 was designed from the ground up to be a free to play experience. We are so excited about this game and wanted it to be accessible to everyone so we didn't want there to be any barriers to entry. This accessibility is also what drives the awesome new Time Shifted Multiplayer feature, in that you can play competitive multiplayer with anyone any time, and they don't need to be online with you at the same time.
At launch we have 46 licensed vehicles covering 3 classes, a 22 car grid, real world tracks, 8 varied event types and 900+ events. This means hundreds of hours of gameplay for free making this one of the most expansive games ever on mobile. We plan to continue to add more free and exciting content with every update.

看看Real Racing 3整個開發過程，這麼優的畫質，可以說是手機、平版上最好的畫面，無人能敵!! 內容也是非常精彩，有來自各大廠牌的跑車、超跑，例如: Audi, BMW, Dodge, Ford, Koeniggseg, Lamborghini, McLaren, Nissan, Pagani, Porsche等(官方尚未完全公布)，並且收錄了世界上知名的真實賽道，例如: Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Silverstone Mount Panorama, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Suzuka Circuit, MELBOURNE等(官方尚未完全公布)。

免費? 為什麼有這麼好的事?

遊戲的開發不是一件容易的事，尤其是手機遊戲，如何做到3D建模的精緻、真實的環境效果、精緻的貼圖，而又要兼顧效能、遊戲的內容等，真的很不容易。那為什麼這次Real Racing 3開放免費下載?

早期App Store上的遊戲大作，大都訂價為9.99美元，像RPG大作Chaos Rings更賣到15.99美元的高價; 後來，有更多開發商加入，由於價格的競爭、節日的特價、消費者撿特價品的心態，以及遊戲內容不及其他遊戲掌機(例如:PSP)等的因素，使得App Store上的遊戲大作最高的訂價平均改為6.99美元。但後期App Store上的遊戲大作，內容已不同以往!! 越來越豐富化，畫質也越來越優，而6.99美元的生態，真的會讓開發商卻步!!

6.99美元? Real Racing 3有這麼優質的畫面(超越PSP，媲美PS Vita)、強大的陣容、豐富的內容，如果只賣6.99美元，而你是開發商，你願意這樣賣嗎? 答案一定是" NO "，如果我們提高價格呢? 訂價為15.99美元，或是29.99美元呢? 那可能換成消費者say " NO "，當然，像我們這樣對賽車、跑車熱愛的玩家，一定會買帳，但並非所有人都能接受。那該怎麼辦呢?

我們可以從GT Racing Free看到一些影子，這款遊戲從2010年賣6.99(如果我沒記錯)，到後來下架，以免費下載的方式重新上架，想要跑車、超跑，那你一定得付一些錢，才可能玩到。那Real Racing 3呢? 我相信也是差不多，遊戲免費下載，除了靠自己努力達成「成就」，可以換取買車的金錢外，還可以購買遊戲金錢包，但我猜測，某些超跑，或是特定賽道，可能要花更多的遊戲金錢購買，那玩家就要花更多更多的時間去玩，才能賺到遊戲裡的金錢，像GT Racing是你努力花時間玩，但會有等級的極限，級滿後，就很難賺錢，想買超跑玩玩，那最後一定得花錢買遊戲裡的金錢。那Real Racing 3呢?

遊戲還沒上市，我不確定詳細會如何，但以上是iVIC長期對App Store的觀察，所做出的推測、分析，有一定的參考價值。
